THE 12 WOMEN OF THE GOSPEL
PETER’S MOTHER-IN-LAW Mark 1, 29-31
The cured woman mentioned at the beginning of Jesus’ ministry.
The one who sets out to SERVE as an example of a life in the style of the gospel. Jesus tells us that he has come to SERVE and not to be served.
WE SERVE WITH JOY (Psalm 99)
1 - We serve with joy
THE POOR WIDOW Mark 12, 41-44
The woman who at the end of her life knows how to “give everything she has to live.” She is presented at the end of her life, and at the end of Jesus’ ministry, as Mark explains.
The one who, mistreated by the powerful of the people, remains generous.
The one who GIVES EVERYTHING.

MARY, THE ONE FULL OF GOD
The one who said Yes to the God who broke her plans.
The one who accompanied the Son, and accompanies us, at all times.
The one FULL OF GOD, who has received the mission of
UNIVERSAL MOTHERHOOD.

Mary’s cousin, who, when Mary visits her, is confused.
And feeling the greatness of Mary’s Son, she asks:

Apostle accompanying Jesus through the villages of Galilee, and the first apostle to meet the Risen One.
The apostle of apostles.

She who has received the great revelations of the Master.
She who feels the Living Water.
She who worships in Spirit and Truth.
The foreigner, invited to be an apostle to her fellow citizens.

THE CANAANITE WOMAN, HUMBLE TEACHER OF JESUS Mt 15:21-28
A pagan woman broadens Jesus’ vision:
He has not only been sent to Israel, but to the whole world.
Not even in Israel has Jesus found so much FAITH!
The foreigner humbles herself before Jesus.
And He sets her up as a model.
7 - The canaanite woman, humble teacher of Jesús
THE FREE AND LIBERATING WOMAN Mk 5: 25-34
A woman who is impure according to the law, joins the crowd following Jesus, touches him, and is healed.
With her and through Jesus, all impurity has disappeared!
She is a FREE woman, who brings LIBERATION from impurities to the whole world.
8 - The free and liberating woman
MARTHA WELCOMES JESUS Lk 10:38-42
A friend of Jesus welcomes him into her home.
She is busy giving him gifts. She wants to do well.
She wants him to see that she loves him.
Martha is a practical woman; words are not enough for her.
9 - Martha welcomes Jesus
MARY LISTENS TO JESUS Lk 10:38-42
A close friend of Jesus, who listens to him in rapture.
Mary at the feet of Jesus, like a true disciple.
Mary feels attracted by the Word of the Master.
Nothing matters to her as much as knowing what He thinks, what He says, what He is, what He desires.

THE REDEEMED WOMAN Jn 10:38-42
A woman condemned by law to be stoned for adultery (not the man who perhaps made her fall, or who abused her).
A woman who was considered a cause of sin, an irredeemable seductress.
The woman whom Jesus redeemed and rescued.
